• Write a 300 word reflection answering the questions below:
• What is the goal of data visualization?
• Pick one exhibit and describe how it uses imagery to make its point?
• How can you use your skills in graphic design to visualize your data?
• How will you improve/revise your initial data visualization rough?
• Paste link to your blog
The goals of Data visualization is to visually present a strong or a story through data and numbers to show the trend that is likely taking place within a range of time period through graphs, charts, histogram, maps and other elements. One exhibit that seems to stand out for me is "Durable Peace" as it relates to my social research project which is the Israel and Palestine conflict. In which a "Peace Park" is visibly shown in the map within the Israel, Palestine and Jordan map. I think the Peace Park is highlight and dotted in this specific map to probably wanting for peace as these specific area may have gotten affect by violence and death through the conflict that have been talking place over the last 75 years or so. Imagery is often shown in this by promoting or illustrating a sense of peace and probably mercy for this conflict to be stopped. In addition, it is probably to show how the community is getting negatively affected and how it must be solved to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
I can use my graphic design skills to visualize my data by creating a factual, accurate and an appropriately visual elemental data of my social justice issue. I could be showing a data visualization of numbers of death that took place between both side to create a awareness to the audience of how serious this conflict is and how much damage it is taking place. In which I will use hierarchy, color and typography that have a strong visual look to it to represent the large extent of chaos that is taking place in order to visually communicate the audience in a sophisticated level so that they can have a near accurate understanding of the social justice.
Although I haven't start my rough yet, however, I would plan on improving and revising my initial data visualization by getting as much feedback by my classmates and teachers as possible to continue to fill up the room of improvements that can be potentially made. Ways that I could possibly improve is color theme as color have a certain types of symbolism in my social justices data visualization. In addition, I would possibly find tactics and tools to effectively make my data visualization powerful enough and blow others minds of it. By being able to take advice and critiques by my classmates and teacher, I can successfully communicate my data visualization strong, intellectual and powerful.
